How Much Does Hubspot Cost – True Cost of Ownership

Hubspot Package CostsHow much does Hubspot Cost?  That’s a question that we get all the time and as often is the case when asking technology and marketing questions, the answer is “it depends”.  Hubspot has a pricing model that incorporates three primary elements into the mix to ultimately determine the price of your Hubspot software.

The three elements to consider when pricing out you Hubspot installation are package, database size, and training.  It is the combination of these three elements that will ultimately determine how much you’ll pay each month for Hubspot.

Package

Hubspot offers three different package levels to their customers that offer varying degrees of functionality and as such, their prices vary.  The three product levels are:

  • Basic
  • Professional
  • Enterprise

As you move up the scale, from Basic to Enterprise your Hubspot’s functionality will increase but so will its costs.

The Hubspot Basic package starts at $200/month and it provides you with the building blocks for a comprehensive inbound marketing strategy.  The Hubspot website lists the following features as being included in the Basic package:

  • Website Hosting with HubSpot’s CMS
  • Blogging tools
  • Landing pages
  • Email marketing
  • Contacts database
  • Marketing analytics
  • Social media tools
  • HubSpot marketplace

If at this point your wondering what all these features are and what you get for them, you should read our Hubspot Good and Bad Review series to get the inside scoop on how each of the elements of the Hubspot software works, and how they work together.

 Professional Package

The professional package helps marketers step up their game a bit.  Most times, companies that have and existing web presence that they would like to maintain are looking at the Professional package because it’s the entry level program for companies wishing to maintain their own site and not migrate content to the Hubspot CMS.  So if you’re interested in Hubspot and your interested in keeping your existing site, your looking that Hubspot Professional edition and your looking at a cost of $600/mo.

In addition to being able to run Hubspot on your existing site, other features of the professional edition not offered in the Basic program include:

  • CRM integration
  • Marketing automation
  • Smart content
  • Custom lead scoring
  • Prospects
  • Conversion Assists

If you read our take on these tools in our Hubspot Review Hubspot Features, you’ll see that we are pretty hot on functions like smart content which allows you to ask the right questions of your visitors based upon what you know about them and we like the marketing automation tools that help us target our message to our clients based on their buying stage and the actions they have taken on our website.

Enterprise Edition

The two items outlined on the Hubspot site that differentiates the Enterprise edition from the professional edition are A/B testing and timeline segmentation.  I have had a number of customers that were convinced that they needed A/B testing to test their messaging but a year or more into their Hubspot implementation they have not gotten to that point.  Our suggestion is often to start with the professional edition and move up when you get to the point that you’re ready to utilize the benefits of the Enterprise Edition.  Hubspot’s cost is $1000/month for the Enterprise edition.  That’s a $400/month increase over the professional edition which can be significant in terms of budget.  Of course, when it comes to the total cost of Hubspot, we’re only a third of the way through the equation.

Tomorrow, we’ll review the next element of Hubspot Costs – Contact Database.
